Class Description

Join our class to explore the techniques around setting stones in prong settings! 

In this class we will explore the basics of gemstone anatomy and explore how to successfully set gemstones in prong settings. Our focus will be on rounds and oval cut gemstones. We will go over what makes up the anatomy of the gemstones and how understanding that can help you to better set your stones in class and on your own. You will be supplied prefabricated sterling silver settings that we will set together in class. Each class will have a half hour of demonstration instruction, followed by two hours of work time for students. This class will gear you towards being able to set a large range of ready made settings as well as useful bench jeweler knowledge. 




Cost of $200 will be paid to the instructor on first day of class or prior to class - payable to Zelle account 678-920-8998 or Venmo @Cassi-Kento 

● You will receive 4 sterling silver pendant settings and 2 sterling silver ring settings to set during class. 

● Cubic zirconia stones 

● Two bur sets (hart & twincut cup burs) 

● Abrasive/polishing wheel set 

● Mini polishing buff set 

You are more than welcome to bring your own gemstones to class, but please be aware that the settings we will use can only fit certain sizes. Feel free to email me for details and sizes. Additionally if you would like a set of gold settings versus sterling silver, please email me at If you happen to break a setting during class there will be an option for me to order you a new one at cost. ($7~$31) 

Cassidy Kento

Cassidy apprenticed in Atlanta, Georgia with Starr Miller and Troy Atterberry, two prominent southeastern custom jewelers. She studied at New Approach School for Jewelers, a state of the art jewelry school started by Blaine Lewis.


Cassidy spent many years within fine jewelry sales, repair and fabrication for various commercial locations around Georgia. She now owns and runs Cassidy Jewelry and Cassidy Jewelry Artisan Collective employing and supporting other female artists from around the world.


She has a diverse academic background in communications, linguistics, and second-language acquisition earning a Bachelor of Science from Liberty University.


In effort to keep old jewelry traditions alive, Cassidy creates each original jewelry design by hand using wax carving techniques. Wax carving dates back as far as the fourth millennium BC. Cassidy aims to preserve these historic techniques imbuing an other worldly soul within each piece that is thoroughly hand made.
