Experience the magic of sand casting! This versatile technique allows metalsmiths to create unique pieces with efficiency and precision, using a variety of materials! This hands-on class covers the fundamentals of sand casting, from mold preparation to venting, melting the metal, and metal flow.
 
This class is open to all levels of metalsmith, beginners welcome.
 
Students will carve their own custom stamps to create one (or more) Holiday Ornaments with their chosen metal (bronze or aluminum will be provided). Each cast will build confidence and deepen their understanding of how to use implants in a sand casting mold and how metal flows and behaves within that mold.

In addition I will provide Bronze or Aluminum which will be paid for based on the weight of your final piece(s).

If you would like to bring your own objects to use as models make sure they are solid/firm material and less than 2”x3” but greater than a ½ inch in any dimension.
