The “Armadillo” Link Bracelet

Curved Link Bracelet in Copper and/or Sterling Silver

Workshop Description:

Create a wearable armor inspired bracelet in this two-day intermediate-level jewelry and metalsmithing workshop. Students will create a bold, articulated bracelet featuring forged curved links inspired by armor forms. Working in copper and/or sterling silver, you'll gain hands-on experience in forging, forming, and connecting dynamic links that move fluidly on the wrist.

This project-based class offers a valuable exploration into bracelet sizing, fit, and closure mechanisms. While we’ll discuss a variety of closure styles, students will fabricate a wide hook and bar clasp specifically designed to complement the bold links of this piece.

The link design in this project provides ample surface area for personalized surface treatments—students are encouraged to explore textures, patinas, stamping, roller printing, fusing, fold forming or hammer marks to create unique visual interest.

Skills Covered:

• Sawing and forming curved links

• Drilling soldering and assembly techniques

• Bracelet sizing and fit considerations

• Design and fabrication of a hook and bar clasp

• Surface embellishment and finishing techniques

This workshop is ideal for intermediate students with basic soldering and metalsmithing skills who are ready to dive deeper into both functional and aesthetic aspects of jewelry design.
