TEST - Wax Ring Carving

Instructor Cassidy Kento Learn how to create unique and one of a kind hand carved wax rings with prong settings. You will be able to turn your carvings into silver or gold after the class, or mid-way during the class with the use of our MAGG artist Dallas Vinson for casting! While in the class we will approach how to plan your ring designs, how to plot and prep your ring for gemstones. We will also learn how to properly prep your wax piece to be able to successfully cast in your desired metal. This class will focus on using faceted gemstones and prong settings. You will learn how to fabricate prongs out of wax in class! We will look at making a basket setting, talking about what clients typically look for in their rings, how to think about your project with a client in mind, etc.! This class will focus on making rings, however you are very welcome to use all the techniques we will be covering in class to make pendants or earrings while in the class. The class will also be project lead, in which you can choose to participate or work on your own designs! I will be in the class each time to help you with your unique projects, guide you along the way, and show you something new during every class. You will be able to bring and use your own gemstones during class, but some CZ gemstones will be provided to you in class for free! Suggested gemstone sizes to bring are standard calibrated cuts under 1.5ct in size. (8x6mm,9x7mm,7mm and under suggested but bigger can be okay!) Stones harder than 6.5 in hardness are also suggested! I look forward to having you in my class and seeing what designs you all have in mind for your projects!
