Would you like to feel more creative? Do you want to make jewelry that is as unique as you are? Creativity is not a “gift” bestowed on a few chosen people. It is a set of skills that empowers you take an idea and turn it into something different. The good news is that any skill (including creativity skills) can be learned or improved.

This class will help you develop and improve the different skills that creative artists use to change and combine their ideas into a new reality. Beginning with simple prompts and “babystep” exercises, we will practice new skills that can free you from conventional ways of seeing and thinking. With practice, you can internalize these skills into a “creative habit” and feel more comfortable thinking outside of your “box”.

In our class, we will… Play with “What if” questions. Become comfortable with creating prompts and “Starting anywhere”. Imagine possibilities while changing and combining design elements Embrace the experience of “Flow” Translate ideas and images into your media (techniques, materials and tools).

The exercises will help you begin to ”let go”of the mindsets that help keep you stuck… Needing the Right way or answer Knowing where your artwork is “going”. Needing to like everything that you make. Being afraid to start. Feeling like you are not talented enough.

Expect to leave the class with a better understanding of what creativity is, ways to nurture YOUR creative process, and how to give yourself permission to use your jewelry-making skills more creatively.
