Class Description
Students will focus on designing and creating native plants surrounding Atlanta, handfabricated pieces of their choice. Demonstrations will include the many techniques that can be used to make this special life come alive in silver, from fusing sterling silver, soldering multiple joints in one piece to reticulation, creating 3-dimensional joints, texturing, basic repoussé and chasing, carving, and texturing. Students will create several different pieces throughout the week. The first two days we will focus on torch warm up, making leaves and branches, and fabricating a flower. The following three days we will delve into seed pods, more intricate, hollow forms, and an insect such as a butterfly.
