Class Description:
This class focuses on both technical skill-building and thoughtful design. Students will create a layered pendant or decorative ornament using accessible metals such as brass, copper, and bronze. A short design assignment will introduce key considerations before moving into hands-on instruction.
Techniques covered include piercing with a jeweler’s saw, forming, sweat soldering, and riveting. Each session begins with a brief demonstration, followed by supported work time, where the instructor will be there to help you realize your vision!
Beginners will use these techniques to carry them further into their metalsmithing journey, while more advanced students will learn how to combine these skills and apply them in different creative ways.
Students will leave with a finished piece and a deeper understanding of the tools, techniques, and creative decisions involved in kinetic metalwork.
