Course Description:

In this class, we will explore Cloisonné enameling on copper and over fine silver foil. Study the basics of Cloisonné enamel using thin pieces of fine silver metal to separate enamel colors and fine-silver foil to add detail. Get an introduction to enameling using beautiful and vibrant leaded and unleaded transparent enamels.

This class is jam-packed with knowledge to kickstart your enameling journey, get a refresher course or just give you a taste for fun in an economical way using copper and fine silver foil.

Get started creating with enamel as we cover safety, application methods, kiln and torch firing techniques. We will focus on what enamel is and how it reacts when heat is applied. Learn how to prepare metal bases for enameling and apply successive layers of transparent enamels by sifting and wet packing. I will educate you on how to choose colors, blend colors and do color studies. Students will leave with confidence to further explore these fun and fascinating techniques.

Open to all levels.  Beginners welcome!  No previous experience necessary.
