Your donation to the Metal Arts Guild of Georgia allows us to continue sharing the art of metalsmithing within our community & across the country. Donate You can help make MAGG Maggnificent ! Our mission at MAGG is to keep the ancient craft of metalsmithing alive for future generations to enjoy by providing exceptional metal arts classes both in-person and virtually around the world. The Metal Arts Guild of Georgia (MAGG) is a magical place where students and professionals come together to create art out of metal. Working with your hands and your brain and getting away from technology for even a short time is good for all of us. "Nothing in life compares to the satisfaction, respect and peace that comes from working with your hands." - Eric Gorges We are fundraising for three reasons: #1 To help us cover the tuition for the classes and workshops we offer. We are receiving a lot of requests for financial assistance and would love to be able to offer scholarships to those students in need. #2 To help us purchase equipment needed to enhance and maintain our studio. We are proud to offer one of the best equipped studios in the Southeast and we need to regularly replace worn out tools and purchase new equipment to further enhance our students' experience. #3 To help us cover our $13K monthly overhead expenses. It costs a lot to keep MAGG running. We have to pay for rent, utilities, insurance, internet, security, building maintenance and more. MAGG is run by an all volunteer board. We are not asking for you to pay our salaries as we are all unpaid volunteers. We are just trying to cover the costs of keeping the doors open. Any donation amount for any reason is greatly appreciated. We love our members and all that you do to make MAGG Maggnificent. Keep it up! OTHER WAYS TO DONATE OUR DONATION PARTNER BENEVITY We're excited to announce that we are now a part of the Benevity network! Many companies use Benevity to match employee donations to their favorite non-profits. If your company uses Benevity, we can now accept any matches your company may make when you donate to MAGG using that system. TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, SUPPLIES, AND BOOKS In addition to monetary contributions, MAGG enthusiastically accepts donations that help equip our studio and library. Do you have metalsmithing tools you are no longer using? Did you just make some studio upgrades and are now looking to rehome your lovingly used equipment? Do you have books related to the metal arts that could help educate and inspire our students? Perhaps you even have some extra project supplies and materials that could be donated to a student in need. These are all ways to support our mission! Contact us at info@metalartsguildga.org or 404-737-7738 to arrange your donation drop off. All monetary donations and donations of tools, equipment, supplies, and books, are tax deductible. • Ryan Gardner | MetalArtsGuildGA.org

< Back Visiting Artist Participation in the arts was always important to me growing up. A strong arts program in high school influenced my decision to pursue a degree in the arts. I chose the arts program at Bowling Green State University in northwest Ohio where I discovered and fell in love with metals. I was introduced to many artists, including Michael Boyd, who became an inspiration for me. Upon graduation I apprenticed for Michael Boyd at his studio in Colorado. That experience turned into an eight year adventure that continues today. It was with Michael that I learned to work with and manipulate stone, adding a new element to my love of jewelry design. Since being in Colorado I have started my own business, Ryan Gardner Designs. I now showcase my work in galleries across the country. I love working with combining stone and metal in new ways creating works of art for people to enjoy in their daily lives. http://ryangardnerjewelry.com http://instagram.com/ryangardnerdesigns http://facebook.com/ryangardnerdesigns Ryan Gardner The Sun-Smart Collection Ryan Gardner Button View More

  • Ace McCasland | MetalArtsGuildGA.org

< Back Visiting Artist Ace, of Studio Luna Verde, wandered (and settled) into the shadows of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado, after many years exploring and hiking and driving all over the western U.S. Experiences have included driving 1950s era tour buses for Green Tortoise Adventure Travel throughout the U.S., Mexico, and Central America / performing for a year with a three ring circus / hiking into (and out of) the Grand Canyon so many times she’s lost count / living out of a '72 Toyota Landcruiser for three (and a half) years while exploring the U.S. / and failing miserably at surfing on the Sea of Cortez in Baja California. She loves spicy chocolate and lightening storms. Her largest creation thus far is having built her own studio, where she currently makes her eclectic jewelry and unabashedly embraces the art of imperfection. https://www.studiolunaverde.com/ https://www.instagram.com/studiolunaverde/ Ace McCasland

  • Taylor Saleem | MetalArtsGuildGA.org

< Back Visiting Artist Taylor is a full-time metalsmith in St. Louis, Missouri. She began creating jewelry in 2003 as "The Rare Bird", transitioning from beadwork to wire work. Entirely self-taught, she now builds her jewelry by hand from precious metals, preserving organic flora in sterling silver using lost wax casting techniques and setting gemstones. She has been featured in Step by Step Wire Jewelry Magazine, Easy Wire Magazine, and ArtJewlery Magazine and frequently teaches virtual jewelry-making workshops. As a woman of mixed ancestry (54% European and 48% African), Taylor often struggles to articulate where she fits in society. Working through silver, stone, and beads, she is discovering who she is in a tangible way. Whether casting organic botanicals to reflect Victorian floriography or weaving and stringing African trade beads, her pieces bridge the divide across her cultural identity. She believes metalsmithing is a type of modern folklore whereby she can refine her voice and narrative through the stories conveyed in each piece of jewelry. http://www.taylorsaleem.com Taylor Saleem
