Metal Etching is a process that combines a protective resist and a liquid that will dissolve metal to create relief or texture on metal. This workshop will teach the techniques of transferring and etching an image onto a brass plate. The brass plate can then be used to create patterns on silver by use of a rolling mill. Students can bring their own black-and white images, clipart or designs. Instruction will also be given in chemical safety, metal preparation, and image manipulation. Images can be digital or paper copies. Students that want to use their own digital images are asked to bring them on a flash drive.Instructors: Priscilla Fritsch and Kathryn Walker
