Palace Ring
Take your fabrication and setting skills to the next level in this advanced workshop. Building on techniques from Bezel Construction, you’ll transform a prepared bezel and backsheet into a striking Palace-style ring.
The Palace ring features a bezel-set focal stone elevated above a gallery of tube-set diamonds or sapphires, creating an open, architectural design with a distinctive sense of height. Students will fabricate a split double-band shank and construct the gallery, fitting and soldering prepared tube-set stones to create a regal setting for the focal stone.
Advance preparation is required. Tube setting will not be covered in this workshop – before class, students must complete their own tube settings for accent stones in heavy walled sterling silver or gold tubing, using ten to twelve heat-tolerant diamonds or sapphires.
Prepare your tube-set stones in one of the following size options:
2 mm stone set in 2.5 mm heavy wall tubing
OR
2.5 mm stone set in 3mm heavy wall tubing.
Students must also arrive with a completed bezel and backsheet for their focal stone.
The Palace design can also be adapted as a pendant, but this workshop will focus on ring construction and fabrication.
**Please thoroughly review the Supply list for materials needed to complete the workshop**
