Explore sand casting, an accessible casting technique, in this one-day workshop. Choose from the available simple wax charms—perfect for a pendant, bracelet, or earring add-on—then learn how to use your acetylene torch to sand cast the charm into metal right at the bench, a satisfying method that delivers instant results with minimal equipment. With time permitting, we'll refine our pieces with finishing techniques, including soldering on a bail. This course is ideal for those curious about small-scale casting that’s achievable in a home setup or during MAGG Open Studio.
Students will need to purchase or provide sterling silver scrap and/or casting grain to complete the project. Detailed supply list is coming soon!
Prerequisite: None. For tools and equipment needed for this course, please see Class Supply List. This class is for adults who are 18 or older. Closed-toe shoes required; denim or cotton clothing is recommended.
