A dozen years later, Lisa now works with silver, gold precious and semi-precious stones, but still has one of the original stretch bracelets as a memento of that journey.     Have fun learning the art of Metalsmithing at this year's Wildfire Summer Camp, provided by the Metal Arts Guild of GA. 2023 Summer Camp Ages 12 -17 Learn the art of traditional metalsmithing as we fabricate one of a kind pieces of jewelry. Campers will design and create rings, pendants, earrings and bracelets using wire, sheet metal, beads, and stones. Soldering, texturing, forming, stamping, sawing, and cold connections will be explored. Step-by-step instructions will be given through live demos each day, and students will learn the ins and outs of studio safety. We will have a different surprise guest each week who will share African and Native American techniques of jewelry making. Each week will have an emphasis on a different project, so students who attend both weeks will be creating something new. Whether students attend one week or both, they are guaranteed to learn something new and exciting! Supplies are included in the registration fee. Students will learn drawing and painting skills with step-by-step instructions. Various styles and techniques for drawing and painting flowers and leaves with overglaze paints on enamels will be presented.     < Back Throw Away The Rules: Using Materials Off-Label June 21, 2024 Instructor Jill Herlands | Learn to use off-label materials in your work that results in spectacular designs. We'll experiment with concrete and old jewelry to create new and engaging adornment. Previous Add to Cart Next Register for EITHER the in-person OR virtual event. If attending virtually, live interaction with the in-person class will occur via Zoom. If attending in-person, please plan to arrive no more than 15 minutes early to the class. ----- CAN'T ATTEND LIVE? ----- ----- WANT TO REVIEW WHAT YOU LEARNED? ----- A recording of the workshop will be available to all participants for 30 days following the workshop. Transitions: As of May 1, 2024, there will be an administrative fee of $30 applicable for any changes made to your class format, including moving from in-person to virtual sessions. This fee is implemented to cover the administrative costs associated with processing such changes. Experimentation can be the most exciting part of metalwork! It allows you to use off-label materials in your work that results in spectacular designs! It also allows you to complete a task that you might have been having difficulty with by finding techniques that aren’t formal, but they work for you! We’ll experiment with concrete, yes, building concrete, and we’ll use old jewelry to create new and engaging adornment. Whether it be jewels that have been sitting in a drawer, or costume jewelry, especially those with ‘gems’ (they don’t have to be genuine), that you have no use for anymore.
