Cold Forging a Copper Bowl
Instructor Courtney Poole Pendergrast
1 Session, Saturday, 10am - 5pm
Class Dates: 5/9
Course Fee: $180
Prerequisite: All levels are welcome but come motivated if you are unfamiliar with forging concepts.
In this class, students will be introduced to the incredible technique of forging. The topic will be presented with a laid back, straight forward approach, but don’t be fooled, there will also be lots of technical information! Using the technique of sinking, the project will be to make a simple copper dish or bowl. Students will be taught how to manipulate and move metal with a mindful approach, learning to listen to the metal and work within the limits of the materials. It is helpful for students to be familiar with using a jeweler’s saw and files but is not required. The instructor’s goal for this class is for each student to go home with confidence on the topic being presented. Be warned, forging can be habit forming!
