This beginner-friendly course introduces students to foundational metalsmithing skills through two hands-on projects: During our fall session students will learn all about textures. You will learn best practices when adding textures using the rolling mill, hammers and burrs. By the end of this class you will have at least two finished pieces of your design.
By the end of the course, students will:
- Safely use basic jewelry tools and equipment
- Demonstrate proper sawing (piercing) techniques
- Understand soldering basics
- Apply texture and surface design
- Form and shape metal into wearable pieces
- Finish and polish jewelry to a professional standard.
- This class is for adults who are 18 or older. Closed-toe shoes required; denim or cotton clothing is recommended.
