Wax Carving: Rings & Pendants

Beginners and intermediate level wax carvers welcome! Enjoy learning and advancing the techniques
of wax caring and jewelry design! Here we will look at what it takes to begin your design
journey from sketch to ready to cast wax piece. We will focus on adding gemstones to
our jewelry pieces where you will be able to set them on your own after casting.
Structure: This class is an individual project driven class where you (the student) will be
given guidance on how to approach, execute, and finish a design in wax to be ready for
casting. Expect to have 20-45 minutes of teaching instruction followed by guided
student time until the end of class.
What You’ll Make: The goal is to make at least 3 projects: one ring, one pendant, and an
additional piece of your choice (pendant or ring). During these 8 weeks you will develop
your skills with wax and be able to then be able to successfully make wax jewelry on
your own. – At the 4th week class you will turn in wax pieces to me and I will deliver
them to Dallas for casting. Expect 2 weeks to receive your casted pieces back. In the
8th week you will turn in your other two pieces to me and I will deliver them to Dallas for
casting. You will need to pick these up about 2 weeks later on your own from Dallas
(Tuesday-Friday 12-4:30pm) If you do not wish to cast your pieces you can continue to
work on them and turn them into Dallas at your own pace!
