Previous Add to Cart Next Bring your sketchbook to this design-based workshop as you learn different techniques to abstract images that you can use in your jewelry design! Design, drawing, and creativity are the focus of this lesson. Jewelry techniques will not be demonstrated. Instead, Elizabeth will share examples and suggestions for different applications of abstraction in jewelry design. About Second Saturdays at the Studio: This monthly mini session will consist of a unique demo, theme, lesson, or challenge to re-energize your studio practice! After the demo, Members with an Open Studio plan can stay for Open Studio to work on their pieces. If you've never been to the MAGG Studio, this is a great opportunity to check us out! With an emphasis on design considerations, suggested projects include rings, pendants with handmade chains, and earrings in sterling silver and gold. Working with gold includes alloying, pouring ingots, as well as fabricating sheet, wire and tubing. On the advanced level, the class prepares those who want to make jewelry professionally, while paying close attention to every student's needs. Learn how to safely etch your Sterling Silver using ferric nitrate along with a Silhouette Cameo die cutting machine to cut custom vinyl decals as the resist. We will cover how to apply the vinyl resist to your silver, how to safely and properly etch your silver, how to stop the etching process, how to clean up the chemicals when the etching process is complete, and how to properly store your chemicals. A list of all materials used in class will be provided. You will leave with at least 1 fully etched sheet of Sterling Silver ready to be turned into something fabulous!
