Click Here to Join Class Description This class will focus on the formation of various styles of links and repetitious components. These components will be assembled to create chains with simple clasps. Some of the techniques that will be covered in this class are fabricating components from wire and sheet. We will explore different ways of attaching the components to one another, making jump rings and rivets. Fusing, texturing, and fine soldering, are some of the ways we will complete the chains. We will also explore a variety of simple clasps. Students can expect to finish one necklace or bracelet, depending on the complexity of the links they choose. Students are also free to explore a variety of different links and forms to add to their repertoire. Students of all skill levels are welcome. If you have large items that won’t fit on the bench, additional counter space may be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Arrival and Unloading: Load in at 9:00am. Pull into the parking area to access the downstairs door. Check in inside. Unload your items. Move your vehicle to one of the nearby offsite parking areas. Volunteers will be on hand to help unload and let you know where to park. Accepting Payment: Bring cash to make change for your sales. If you accept credit cards, be sure to bring your card reader. Including stones or simply metal. Using a variety of shapes and sizes of wire and sheet, we will learn how to properly measure to create the perfect size rings. We will texture, roll, twist, solder and add a stones to rings. She graduated from Colorado State University in 1980 with a BFA in printmaking and later worked as a graphic artist, illustrator, fine artist, and technician in art/bronze casting foundries before beginning her jewelry-making career in 1990.     < Back Bezel Fabrication and Construction May 17, 2024 Instructor Sam Woehrmann | Learn to fabricate bezels in 22k gold, 18k gold, and sterling silver for cabochons, faceted stones, gems with rough surfaces, rose cut gems in geometric shapes, and more! Previous Add to Cart Next Register for EITHER the in-person OR virtual event. If attending virtually, live interaction with the in-person class will occur via Zoom. If attending in-person, please plan to arrive no more than 15 minutes early to the class. ----- CAN'T ATTEND LIVE? ----- ----- WANT TO REVIEW WHAT YOU LEARNED? ----- A recording of the workshop will be available to all participants for 30 days following the workshop. Transitions: As of May 1, 2024, there will be an administrative fee of $30 applicable for any changes made to your class format, including moving from in-person to virtual sessions. This fee is implemented to cover the administrative costs associated with processing such changes. We will be learning my method of fabricating bezels in 22k gold and either 18k gold or sterling silver. I'll bring gemstones to purchase or you can use stones you already have. Cabochons, faceted stones, pearls or gems with rough surfaces, rose cut gems in geometric shapes are all welcome. We will learn how to shape the bezels to fit specific stones. Making interior seats for faceted gems or stones we want to raise higher in their settings for design purposes. Learn fast efficient ways to set stones in tube settings for use in constructing finished pieces. I like to use diamonds, sapphires or rubies so we can set them first and solder with them in place to keep the settings clean and to add some sparkle where it is harder to reach later. I'll talk and demonstrate a few ways of attaching bezels to one another strategically to bring designs together. Finish your pieces after learning how to safely set stones into your newly made settings and some tips I've learned along the way as well as techniques I have figured out after working many hours at the bench.

Click Here to Join Class Description Reticulation is the process of creating “mountains and valleys”, structures or patterns in metal surfaces. By heating specially prepared metal sheets with various torches, the semi-melted metal flows toward the flame. Surfaces created in this manner bring “life” to the metal surface. This workshop will cover: Discussion and creation of metal shapes suitable for reticulation Preparing the metal through depletion gilding Manipulation of the metal during the heating process Various torches used to create certain design patterns Forming reticulated metals into 3D forms Integration, patination, and repair of reticulated metals Granulation is an ancient method of surface embellishment that has seen a rebirth in the last century. Its appeal is the surface patterns, which are created through applying various size metal granules producing designs of geometric or abstract nature. Students will learn: Making small snips in metal Making a special flux for adhering the granules to metal Applying beads to metal surfaces Consideration of various methods of granulation Fusing granules to metal, how to repair them if not completely fired How to finish a work, patination and repair, if needed Consideration in combining granulation with other techniques QUESTIONS?
