Previous Add to Cart Next This is an VIRTUAL workshop online through Zoom, Sundays September 8 - September 29 11am-1pm EST. Set it & Forget it I Learning to design and fabricate your own settings is a great way to liberate your making process. In this workshop we will explore the wonderful world of making settings for stones, coins, ceramic shards, your child’s first lock of hair and many other beautiful objects that are so special they deserve to have a home built for them. Part one of this workshop will cover bezel, tab, frame, and basket settings. Students will be working with copper and/or silver depending on their piece and individual desires. Some basic metalworking skills such as sawing, filing and soldering will be needed in this workshop. I will demo step-by-step processes and have a PDF handout available for students to reference later when working on their own. Set it & Forget it II In part II of Set it and Forget it, we will build off of what you learned in the first class, taking forward steps to creating more complicated settings. During these sessions together, we’ll focus on faceted gemstones, both round and square. We will cover: tube, prong and basket settings with variations of all these that will add a unique touch to your work. I will demo step-by-step processes and have a PDF handout available for students to reference later when working on their own. Basic metalworking skills such as sawing, filing and soldering will be needed in this workshop.

    < Back Georgia Talent Tony has been active in metalsmithing and jewelry making for the last 6 years. After 30 years as a mechanical engineer, he began metalsmithing as a way to find a mental break from the stresses of his career and to develop his more artistic side. As the son of an aircraft machinist, he has worked with machining and other metal working tools throughout his life. Tony focuses his jewelry primarily on forged or manipulated metal. In addition to basic metal smithing techniques Tony uses presses and rolling mills to form the shapes of his pieces and, also utilizes his engineering skills to create solid 3D models in CAD and then print them in high resolution resin for casting. Tony and his family moved to the Kennesaw area in 2011 after spending many years working abroad in the UK, Europe, and the Middle East.
