Cuffs & Bangles 6 Ways
with Piper Espey
In this action packed class, Piper will be demonstrating a wide range of skills and fabrication techniques. Soldering, annealing, sawing, hammering, texturing and forming to name a few. Students will learn to create one of a kind cuffs using the hydraulic press, specially designed forming and blanking dies, the rolling mill and the torch. We will complete our creations by using patina for color or "painting" with fire followed by a final polish.
PREREQUISITE: None. Beginners are welcome!
Materials can be purchased on site the day of the class for a $25 supply fee.
Supply List (for those who wish to bring their own):
Two or three 6x6 sheets of 18-20g copper, brass and/or sterling silver. Students will be able to create 2 cuffs per sheet.
Students may bring their favorite texturing materials (texture plates, etc.) We will have plenty of texturing supplies for everyone. Newbies do not fear! We will teach you everything you need to know.
Atlanta native Piper Espey grew up surrounded by all things metal. As a daughter of highly skilled metalsmith she learned from an early age the magic of moving metal. Her chosen focus for undergraduate and graduate studies were Art and Psychology. This 20 year teaching veteran is not only known for her passion for metalsmithing, but also for her patience and positive energy in the classroom.
